Company Bios

Charles W. Beatty, Jr.
President and CEO

Mr. Beatty co-founded Audex® in 1974.  Under his leadership, the company has evolved into one of the most innovative and respected providers of infrared, magnetic induction listening devices and telephones for hearing impaired people in the United States.  He has also been responsible for development of Audex®’s production, accounting, sales and marketing programs.  Mr. Beatty holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an MA in Audiology from the University of Texas at El Paso.  He holds a license in audiology from the state of Texas, with over thirty years experience in fitting and dispense hearing aids and rehabilitation for people with hearing loss.  Mr. Beatty is personally hearing impaired and an extensive user of assistive listening devices.


Henry N. Edmunds, Ph.D.
Vice President of Finance

Dr. Edmunds joined Audex®
in October 2000. Prior to Audex®, Dr. Edmunds was Chief Financial Officer at Prometheus in San Diego and Chief Financial Officer of SangStat Medical Corporation.  While at SangStat, the company completed an IPO and follow on financings of over $100 million.  During his tenure at Prometheus, the company completed $26 million in financing.  Dr. Edmunds holds an AB from Yale University, a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

Bill Shepard
Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Mr. Shepard has been with Audex since 1986.  He holds a BS Degree from Colorado College, with extensive past experience in the real estate and insurance industries.  When he left Blue Cross-Blue Shield in 1980 to start his own real estate firm, Mr. Shepard was Vice President of Professional Relations.  His sales and marketing skills have produced close relationships with many large corporate customers such as Carnival Cruise Lines, UNLV, Clark County, Nevada, public schools and courts, and government facilities throughout the United States.
